Rugby League legend Greg Inglis counts being a father as his greatest achievement.

Just weeks into fatherhood, the 27-year-old has opened up to Woman’s Day about what it’s like being a first-time dad.

“When you see your child for the first time there are no words to explain the feelings you have,” the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Queensland Origin player said.

“You know right then it’s the greatest achievement you will ever accomplish.”

Greg and his wife Sally welcomed their first child, Nate Alexander into the world on June 3.

And the little man’s arrival couldn’t have come at a better time.

Conveniently for Greg, Nate was born between game one and two of this year’s State of Origin which meant he could be by his wife’s side and there to give his son his first cuddle.

While the NSW Blues have already won the 2014 Origin series, Greg says Nate is already a big time Maroons supporter and will be watching the final game dressed in a Queensland onesie.

Meanwhile, his proud and loving parents have given us an insight into the kind of man they’d like him to be.

“Hopefully we will be the best parents we can be and give Nate a healthy, happy, fun upbringing,” Greg said.

“We’ll teach him to be kind and well-mannered and to pursue all of his dreams.

“To be proud of who he is and to accept and appreciate other people for who they are…and hopefully we can open his eyes to the world.”
