The Berlin-based school teacher is set to become the oldest mother ever to give birth to quadruplets and is even up for retirement later this year.

Annegret already made headlines in her home country of Germany back in 2005, after welcoming a daughter, Leila, the youngest of her 13 children, at the age of 55. The oldest of her children, from five different fathers is aged 44 and she already has seven grandchildren.

Now, she is set to become the star of a TV documentary that will follow her progress as her brood grows to an enormous 17 children.

Now 21-weeks pregnant, Annegret conceived thanks to artificial insemination, where both the eggs and the sperm were donated and she says that she sees her age as no boundary to motherhood.

“I think one needs to decide for oneself and not listen too much to the opinions of others,” Annegret told the German press.

Thus far the oldest woman on record for giving birth to quads is believed to be Merryl Fudel, who was 55 when she gave birth in 1998 while the oldest woman ever to give birth is believed to be Indian Omkari Panwar, who welcomed twins in 2008, age 70.

The Berlin-based school teacher will end up with a family of 17.
