Girl mistakes bride for princess

It would seem that dreams really do come true – at least for this little girl who had the honour of meeting the princess from her favourite book (or so she thought).

Scott and Shandace Robertson were married in a fairy-tale wedding in Seattle last February, but the real magic happened when the couple was capturing snapshots with photographer Stephanie Cristalli out on the street.

Upon seeing the beautiful bride, this two-year-old’s eyes positively lit up. Why? Because she thought the newlywed was the princess from her favourite storybook, which she happened to be clutching in her little hands.

“The little girl didn’t say anything actually, she just smiled the entire time,” Shandace told Huffpost. “I could tell by her face that her heart was overflowing.”

The two paused for a hug, and Shandace was even kind enough to give the awestruck girl a flower from her bridal bouquet. It’s a moment neither of them will be forgetting in a hurry.

“It was a very sweet moment,” the girl’s mum, Kelsey Edwards, told ABC. “Our daughter was carrying ‘Woman in White’ by Wilkie Collins, which, during that week, was her favourite book because of the ‘princess’ on the cover.

“So, when we saw Shandace in her beautiful dress, our daughter was entranced.”

A woman’s wedding day is one never to be forgotten. But alongside the ‘I dos’, cake cutting and first dances, it was this encounter with the sweetest admirer that has had Shandace reminiscing for weeks.

“The day is really busy and you’re running around but to take three minutes to say ‘hi’ to her and give her a hug, it was one of the best most moments of the day,” said Shandace.

“I was just beaming for the rest of day and talking about it for weeks after that. My heart was just overjoyed.”
