A 14-year-old boy has been charged with sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in a toilet at a shopping centre.
The little girl was assaulted in the toilets of a shopping centre at Moonee Beach, near Coffs Harbour in New South Wales.
The girl’s mother was waiting outside the women’s toilets for her daughter when she saw the boy walk out.
A member of the public detained the boy in a car park until police arrived.
The Coffs Harbour Advocate reports that detectives from State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad interviewed people at the scene before taking the boy to Coffs Harbour Police Station.
Police later charged the boy with sexual intercourse with a child under 10, and two counts of indecent assault of a child under 16.
