VIDEO: This woman has been a nurse for 70 years

Florence recently celebrated her 90th birthday and it was during her celebrations at work – at the Tacoma General Hospital in Washington – that she was recognised as the oldest serving nurse in the United States.

Bill Robertson, president and CEO of MultiCare Health System, which runs Tacoma General, penned an open tribute to SeeSee for her seven decades of service.

“She is the oldest practicing nurse in the United States,” Robertson wrote. “Just imagine all the changes SeeSee has seen in her life.”

In a video filmed during her celebrations, a very youthful SeeSee enthusiastically thanked her colleagues who presented her with flowers, a pink sash and a crown. They also read aloud a letter

from the Governor, Jay Inslee who called SeeSee’s story “an inspiration to me and all Washingtonians”.

SeeSee was emotional when she thanked her workmates.

While Rigney still works as a surgical nurse two days a week at Tacoma General but she since 2013 nonagenarian has moved away from directly with patients, but rather assisting in the setup of operating rooms for surgeries.
