When Alissa Sizemore lost her leg after a car accident, she thought she would never dance again. Now, nearly one year later, she has returned to the stage to perform an emotional solo.

The eight-year-old from Vernal, Utah, was just seven when she was hit by a truck. She survived, but her leg was amputated below the knee.

Many thought she would never dance again, but Alissa refused to give up and returned to the stage recently, receiving a standing ovation for her emotional performance.

“I just didn’t want to give up,” Alissa told People. “Dancing has been my favourite thing since I was four. I don’t have part of my leg, but I can’t let that stop me. I still want to dance.”
