Fashion retailer Jay Jays have come under fire for marketing a T-shirt that encourages children to exclude their peers.
The girls t-shirt has “You Can’t Sit With Us” written across it, a quote taken from the 2004 hit comedy, Mean Girls.
Child psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg has called for a nationwide boycott of the store until Jay Jays pulls the “disgraceful” top from its shelves.
“To me this is absolutely unacceptable,” Dr Carr-Gregg told news.com.au.
“This is exclusionary bullying. This (bullying) is a major public health issue.”
He was contacted by parents who were outraged by the shirt.
“I talked to a mother of one 12-year-old who said if you had any idea what life is like in the playground for my 12-year-old old you would know this is obscene,” Dr Carr-Gregg said.
What do you think? Should it be pulled?
