One dedicated father has gone the extra mile to make sure his beautiful daughter never feels left out, by getting an amazing tattoo of her cochlear ear implant.
Now that’s love.
Alistair Campbell, from Taupo, New Zealand, surprised his daughter, Charlotte, 6, who is profoundly deaf, on the night before her big surgery with a brand new tattoo of the cochlear implant she would be getting the next day.
Talking to stuff.co.nz, Alistair explained that he didn’t want his daughter to feel left out because of her hearing impairment, and decided to get a matching tattoo in a show of support.
“Charlotte’s journey has been quite a hard journey for her and for us,” the Taupo-based dad-of-three told the website.
Adding: “The tattoo was a tribute – this was all about her, not me.”
“We have a close father-daughter bond, and I thought it would be quite fitting for me to do that,” he explained.
After showing it to his daughter, she looked at it for a little bit, touched it and then promptly announced it was “cool.”
The implant, which is Charlotte’s second, has dramatically changed her life, says her mum, Anita.
“She wouldn’t talk to anybody, [but now she’s] pretty much a social butterfly,” Anita told the New Zealand Herald.
Whilst proud husband Alistair admitted to Buzzfeed, “It has changed her life, being given the gift of sound.”

The ink, which took about 45 minutes to complete, required Alistair to completely shave his head – another feat of dedication.
And although the loving dad says he is planning to let his hair grow back, he has maintained that anytime Charlotte “wants to see it”, the shaving clippers will come out.
As well as showing it off on special occasions, of course. “Hey my hair can grow back,” said the doting father.
Alistair is due to take part in a charity boxing match to raise awareness and money for his family’s organisation, ‘Hear 4 Kidz Trust’.
