A Sydney photographer has captured some incredibly powerful images of his 4-year-old daughter to pay homage to anonymous organ donors and their families.
Mat Warner’s daughter, Indi, 4, was just 7 months old when she had to have a liver transplant.
She was born with Biliary atresia, a life-threatening condition in infants in which the bile ducts inside or outside the liver do not have normal openings. Without treatment, the liver eventually fails and the infant needs a liver transplant to stay alive.
Her creative father says he thinks about her donor “every time I see her”.
Now 4, Indi is “just creating general havoc like any kid her age,” her mum Kylie told AAP.
“We didn’t realise how life threatening her condition was until she was 10 days old, but she’s been sick since she was born and taken it all in her stride.”
Indi wears her battle scars with pride. Mat created this symbolic image of Indi dressed as a boxer.
What an amazingly brave little girl – and what a talented daddy!
