Can you help? Woman searches for birth mother on Facebook

Kate McGlade has launched a public appeal help her reconnect with the birth parents she never knew.

Kate McGlade is a woman on a mission. She was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on September 21, 1992. Soon after her birth she was put up for adoption through the Catholic Social Agency Diocese of Allentown, never to hear from her biological family again.

Now, aged 22, McGlade wants answers. All she has been told from her adoptive family is that her biological mother had two older children at the time she gave Kate up.

Older and now ready to track down her ancestral roots, McGlade is desperately trying to track down the birth family she has never known. And she needs your help to do so.

The Pennsylvania-resident has shared an image on social media, detailing her plight, in the hopes a user somewhere will point her in the right direction. It has already been shared thousands of times, and is continuing to gain traction.

“It’s absolutely insane,” McGlade told People Magazine . “I checked this morning and it had 8,000 shares. It feels like I’m in a Lifetime movie.”

McGlade says she has tried to track down her biological parents through the court system and has exhausted all legal avenues. Now, she is relying on word-of-mouth and helpful individuals to assist her on her quest.

“So me and my best friend came up with the idea [to post about it on Facebook],” she told People Magazine . We were like, ‘Why don’t we just do it? Maybe it’ll go somewhere.'”

McGlade has already had some success. A New-York based woman reached out to her after seeing the Facebook post in her feed. She believes she may be McGlade’s sister, and so far, their stories match up. They are currently in the process of undertaking DNA testing to see if there is a biological link.

Asked what she would do if she were to eventually be put in touch with her biological mother, McGlade says she would just want to get to know her.

“At first I want answers, and then I would hope to have some kind of relationship with her because she’s my mom and she’s the reason I’m here,” she says.
