Brother and sister defend their sexual relationship

The pair plan to marry as soon as they can

It’s true that love comes in all shapes, sizes, and situations, but for siblings Melissa and Brian – whose names have been changed to protect their privacy – not only is their love unexpected, it’s completely taboo.

Talking to Good Housekeeping, the pair explained that after meeting in their 40’s, there was an immediate and undeniable sexual attraction that has since turned into a relationship.

Thinking she was an only child until she turned 40, Melissa was contacted last January by a man who explained the man she thought was her biological father – a man who had committed suicide when she was 10 – was not actually her real father, and that his stepfather – who had recently passed away – was.

This man then explained that her real father had had several other children, meaning Melissa had a number of half-siblings she had never known about. One of these half-siblings – Brian – then also contacted Melissa via Facebook, saying, “Well, I guess I’m your brother.”

From there they began messaging back and forth, speaking on the phone, and eventually meeting up.

“It was love at first sight, absolutely the craziest thing I have ever experienced,” says Melissa. “The sexual force was like I was levitating off the earth. Your body instantly craves the other person.”

Brian felt the same way, saying, “It was trippy, like seeing yourself in the opposite form. Everything inside you is just vibrating. Your cells know that this is your person.”

Neither Melissa or Brian – who are both married with children – have told their families about their sexual relationship, although Brian has separated from his wife and does hope to marry Melissa in the future.

“Obviously, it’s still illegal. But we can hide and do that [because our surnames on our birth certificates are different]” says Melissa. “It’s just not going to be for a number of years unfortunately.”

And while their relationship is unorthodox, the pair have defended it by claiming they are experiencing genetic sexual attraction (GSA), a term that describes the numerous cases of separated siblings or family members meeting as adults and forming sexual or romantic relationships.
