Bound and gagged woman falls from boot of moving car

Auckland motorists were stunned a bound and gagged woman fell from the boot of a moving car on Monday night.

Papatoetoe resident Jay Shah was taking his household garbage bins out when he noticed the boot of a silver sedan pop open and a woman fall out onto the road, bleeding and frothing at the mouth.

“When I saw the body fall out of the boot, I ran towards the body to make sure everything was all right. I thought she was about to die,” he told the NZ Herald.

Shah loosened the woman’s restraints and a group of other onlookers helped him remove her gag before calling police.

It is not clear if the driver of the car knew the woman had escaped. The car continued driving without pause regardless.

Police are now investigating and have reportedly told local residents to stay inside their homes.

The woman is in a critical condition in hospital.
