While he is seen to be a beer-swilling, womanising, sex addict, embarrassing the nation in Bali, Todd Gisondi tells Woman’s Day, he has been wildly misrepresented.
The star of channel seven’s What Really Happens In Bali, (pictured above with his mum,Susan) says he is in fact a successful businessman, a good catholic boy and does volunteer work at orphanages – a far cry from the antics displayed on the show.
“They told me they were going to show me in a positive light,” he says of the series’ producers. “I haven’t even seen the show, but people keep telling me about it.”
Todd is equally as annoyed at the show’s suggestion he was pressuring his then girlfriend Chelsea-Jade Fairhall, who is now in a new relationship, to get a boob job.
“That’s a complete lie!” he says when asked. “I was saying to her you’re beautiful as you are. You don’t need a boob job.”
The episode, which aired last night, shows Todd with Chelsea at Bali’s Royal Hospital as she contemplates having a boob job, but decides against the procedure when she is shown some samples.
While Chelsea says in the footage that it was her choice to get a boob job, she says her decision was made based on Todd’s negative comments about her breasts.
Todd however, says he didn’t want her to get a boob job and that the show’s producers suggested the idea.
Thousands have since taken to social media calling him “vile”, “disgusting” and “Australia’s biggest douchebag” after he revealed his system of counting sexual encounters. A “double double” meant he had bedded two women in one night, while a “triple crown” meant he had bedded three.
A Facebook page has even been set up called Todd Gisondi Is A Dickhead and currently has 8559 likes.
But the 23-year-old from Newcastle, NSW says he is misunderstood, and, while he admits he did have some wild months in Bali, he has turned over a new leaf and is living a far different life now.
“I don’t even remember half the stuff I was doing,” Todd says of the show. “Those two months [of filming] are a complete blur for me.”
“I only go out once a week now, and I only have a couple of vodka sodas as they have less calories,” he says. “It’s just chicken breast for me at the moment.”
Todd is eating nothing but five chicken breasts a day as he prepares to play rugby union for Hong Kong’s DeA Tigers. He is done with all the womanising too.
“I won’t even sleep with a girl now unless we have a connection. I’m a good Catholic boy at heart. Sometimes I slip up with the morals but I try my hardest,” he says.
“I just want a best friend, someone to share my life with. My inbox is full of girls trying to sleep with me. Finding a girl to sleep with isn’t the problem – it’s finding the right one.”
Even Todd’s mum Susan has come to his defence. During one episode Todd is seen reading an email from his mum where she suggests he became a gigolo to make extra money.
“It was a joke!” she tells us, saying her email was presented completely out of context. She says she is glad she had nothing to do with the TV show’s filming.
“They tried to get me drunk but I wasn’t having a bar of it,” she says of the shows producers.
“I knew they just wanted me on so they could say, ‘There’s the bogan and there’s the bogan’s mum.’
“As a mother, I know they’re definitely twisting things.”
