Australia's oldest lovebirds!

As John Farquharson and his fiancèe Jean Stewart snuggle up together on the couch, it’s clear there’s nowhere else they’d rather be.

It’s taken John nearly 90 years to meet the woman of his dreams – and he’s not letting her go now.

John, who turns 90 on Valentine’s Day, met Jean, 86, at a singles retirement village in Townsville two years ago. The pair fell in love, moved out into their own one-bedroom love nest and have just got engaged.

“I get tingly just thinking about it,” Jean laughs. “I moved into the nursing home thinking it would be my final resting place, not expecting to find a husband. Romance was the last thing on my mind.”

“She gives me so much pleasure with everything she does,” beams John. “I just wish she’d entered my life 70 years ago.”

Jean chuckles, “We’re like lovestruck teens. We haven’t had one argument.”

The moment John saw Jean in a crowded dance hall, he knew she was the one for him.
