Afraid of losing his lady, big bloke Jason Jennings devised a DIY diet that saw him drop a life-saving 123kg!
Jason Jennings knew he had to take radical action if he wanted to live happily ever after with his fiancee Rachel Boneham. At a morbidly obese 223kg – too big for plane and theatre seats – the 38-year-old Canberran was on the way to eating himself to death.
So with Rachel’s support, he opted for gastric sleeve surgery, hoping it would “fix all my problems”. But three days before he was due to go under the knife, Jason had an epiphany when he saw he had lost more than 16kg in three weeks just by following the required pre-op diet.
“It made me reconsider,” he says. “Had I really tried to lose weight before? Was having 80 per cent of my stomach removed really for me?”
Jason cancelled the gastric surgery, resolving to take control of his life and appetite. “I decided to educate myself on calories, carbs, fats, proteins, and working out and keeping active,” he explains.
