Meet Australia’s real-life Rapunzel

It’s hard to believe these long, luscious locks belong to a two-year-old!
Meet Australia's real-life Rapunzel

She may be just two, but adorable Arya Bilgin is used to attracting attention everywhere she goes thanks to her massive mane.

In fact, her hair is already so long and thick her mother Gonca can braid it and put it in pigtails and big curls, making the tot
look twice her age.

“She was born with a full head of hair that covered her ears
and stood several centimetres
off her scalp,” Gonca, 32, tells Woman’s Day.

“But unlike other babies,
our little girl’s hair never fell
out and only continued to grow more rapidly. If we brush her hair, it goes down below her shoulders. It grows so fast and is very thick but soft like baby hair.”

The toddler, who hails from Queensland’s Gold Coast, is used to being compared to a variety
of long-haired icons from Rapunzel to a mermaid.

Arya’s unique look recently
saw her signed up by a modelling agency – and she has already done her first photoshoot.

“Often people think she’s four years old because of how much hair she has and because she’s pretty tall, too,” Gonca says. “It’s more hair than the average adult.”

Despite being born with a lot
of hair herself, Gonca says her and husband Oktay, 33, and hospital staff were stunned
when they first laid eyes on
their daughter’s full head of hair.

While Arya’s locks are definitely taking her places, Gonca says she spends hours shampooing, conditioning, blowdrying and styling her daughter’s hair every week to ensure it stays soft and silky.

“Arya loves flicking her hair around her shoulders, and
it won’t be long before she chooses her favourite styles
for herself,” the full-time
mum adds.

“She’s our mini-Rapunzel, and we can’t wait to see how long it grows in the next year!”
