Not enough to simply visit a place, the 42-year-old from Baltimore knits his outfit in preparation for the photographic memento, which features a matching image of the scene he’ll be visiting.
He started making his creations in 1999 and to date, has worked his knitting needle magic on 103 jumpers featuring everything from New York’s Times Square to London Bridge.
His passion for wool is so unique, he’s gained quite the following on Facebook, where he showcases sneak peeks of his upcoming creations.
Each jumper takes a month to knit and Barsky admits he’d happily knit more if he had the time.
“I wish I could recreate every place I’ve been to in yarn. Anything that catches my eye is a potential sweater,” he tells Fodor’s Travel.
Barsky’s eccentric collection is so popular, he sells prints of them on t-shirts, coffee mugs and mouse pads on his website so that we can all enjoy a slice of destination-themed merchandise.
