Misty Nicole Knight, who has called Ryan Farrell “Dad” since she was five years old, captured the heart-warming moment on camera. The 19-year-old presents Ryan a red box and a letter, which she asks him to read aloud.
“I just want you to know that you are the most amazing man I have ever met,” the 38-year-old begins.
“You’ve raised me my whole life, from putting my hair in tight Princess Leia buns, forging my signature in fifth grade, jamming out to alternative music, going on Warped Tour and even our first rock concert together, leading up to you laughing at cats wearing leggings.”
Getting teary, he continues reading, “I know we are so weird together, but that’s what makes you you, and I cannot imagine not having you in my life.”
“I’m so grateful to be able to call you Dad. You’re probably wondering what this letter is for— well, open the damn present already!”
The gift appears to be just an adult Batman vs. Superman onesie, but buried underneath is a present Ryan will treasure for a lifetime – adoption papers!
Laughing and crying, Misty embraced her dad, telling him, “It’s okay to cry!”
With not a dry eye in the room, the video, which has already racked up 48 million views, concludes with the proud dad gushing to his daughter, “I’ve been wanting to adopt you forever!”
Along with the video, Misty shared this sweet note on Facebook.
“So everyone has been waiting for this but I finally asked the man that raised me to adopt me ❤ love you with all my heart and can’t wait to be a FARRELL!”
Well-wishers were quick to share their admiration for Misty’s present, but no one was more moved than her dad,
Commenting on the post, he penned, “Love you, this is the best present. I’m glad people are touched by it!”
The waitress, who is estranged from her biological father, told Us Weekly, “Ryan has raised me my whole life. I have always considered Ryan my real dad.”
