Major spoiler alert! It looks like Matt Damon totally survives in his new movie, The Martian thanks to a new sequel trailer.
In full disclosure, the promo is actually a spoof! Taking over from the original film’s critically-acclaimed director, Ridley Scott is none other than the ever funny Ellen DeGeneres.
The 57-year-old comedian joked that she had been given a copy of the film sequel’s trailer, in which Matt’s character, Mark Watney, instead of Mars is, well, “Stuck on Uranus.”
“Even if I could make contact, it would take eight years for another person to reach Uranus,” the 44-year-old joked in the promo. “So, I’m left with only one option: I’m going to have to explore the surface of Uranus.”
The trailer cuts to Ellen, who plays the head of NASA. “Get me an expert on Uranus,” she demands.
Then a star emerges, dressed in a white lab coat is Kim Kardashian aka the Uranus expert.
“Did someone say Uranus?” the 34-year-old reality star asked.
“No matter what happens, tell the world, tell my family, that I never stopped fighting to get off of Uranus,” Matt responded.
After the trailer ended, Ellen made us all laugh as she said: “You could say he was stuck on Uranus, or you could say he was left behind.”
