Despite the fact that Home Alone has been loved and adored by children and adults alike for decades, the premise of the film is pretty messed up.
The plot line involves an eight-year-old boy, called Kevin McCallister, being forgotten during Christmas while his family head off on holidays.
If that wasn’t heartbreaking enough, Kevin has to fight off intruders who threaten to do all sorts of awful things to him – like we said, it’s pretty dark.
So it’s no wonder that in :DRYVRS, a new web series, Macaulay Culkin, the troubled actor who made Kevin MccAllister famous, portrays him as a very disturbed adult.
Fast forward 25 years and Kevin is now a disgruntled Uber driver who confides in a passenger about his tumultuous childhood.
“It’s fuking Christmas, and your whole family goes on vacation and they forget their eight-year-old f****g son,” he explains in the clip.
“All by yourself in the house for a week. I had to fend off my house from two psychopath home invaders. I was just a kid.”
“I still have nightmares about this bald weirdo dude chasing me around, talking like Yosemite Sam. They remembered my bastard of a brother but they forget me, the cutest f*****g eight-year-old in the universe,” he added.
The short episode takes a dark turn when a carjacker appears with again and Kevin exclaims, “You picked the wrong car my friend,” and pulls out some of his classic Home Alone skills to apprehend the thief.
Then he keeps the would-be criminal as a hostage, and things just seem to get darker from then on.
