Your Vintage Magazines Could be Worth a Small Fortune

Some cases,it pays to be hoarder, this is one of them.

According to Fashionista, vintage magazines that once sold for about $1 are now selling for $20, $30, or even $50 on sites like eBay to collectors who are interested in mags from the past.

While this might not be so exciting to you if you just have a couple old magazines lying around in plain sight, it might be worth digging through the storage in your basement or attic to see if you have a larger collection gathering dust. Because if you do, you could be in for some serious dough.

That’s what eBay seller and paper collectibles expert Matt Oran was able to do after he and his father purchased 30,000 old Life magazines from a friend. It all started with a simple eBay search, and the rest was history.

“I went on eBay, and see just a random Life magazine that we’re selling for a dollar — or 50 cents even — and it’s going for 20, 30 bucks,” he said. “Like every other person, I had magazine subscriptions, but never thought that this could be a business until I realized we have 30,000 of something that might be worth 20, 30 dollars each. And based on what he paid for it, it’s actually a tremendous markup.”

Luckily for us all, Matt has the full scoop on what kind of vintage magazines have the highest returns. Keep an eye out for these, and who knows — you might be able to treat yourself to a fabulous shopping spree!
