A Woolworths customer, Michael Hutchinson, wanted to celebrate his child’s 12th birthday, but noticed something a little odd about the ‘Happy Birthday’ bunting he bought from a Bowral store.
So, he snapped a pic and uploaded it to the Woolworths Facebook page:
“About to have miss now 12s party and family get together. Yesterday we bought this ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY’ from Woolworths Bowral or should i say ‘HAPPY☆BTRTHDAY’. C’mon, surely you could aquire this sort of product locally and spelt correctly.”
The sign appears to replaced the ‘i’ with the ‘t’! Awkward.
Woolies responded with: “Hi Michael, we’re so sorry about this. We’ll follow up with the relevant team to look into product control right away to ensure this doesn’t happen again with other customers of ours. In the meantime, please feel free to return to your local Woolworths for a full refund. Thanks.”
One person commented: “I think it’s just the way the ‘i’ is joined to the other letters – it does say birthday but it also looks weird.”
And we’re kind of inclined to agree! When you look at the green T, it looks slightly more stretched than the supposed ‘i’.
Another person responded to the post saying that it was no big deal and to “lighten up” about it.
