‘Womb raider’ couple arrested after they were found with dead neighbour’s baby

Savanna Greywind was eight months pregnant when she went missing. Her body was found dumped in a river but her baby was found alive and well.

A tragic and grisly ‘womb raider’ story has rocked the community of Fargo, North Dakota, after a young woman’s body was found in a river. Savanna Greywind, 22, was eight months pregnant when she was reported missing. Her presumed-to-be still unborn baby was found alive and in her neighbours’ possession.

The neighbours,Brooke Crews, 38, and boyfriend William Hoehn, 32, have now been arrested and charged over her death with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and reporting false information to police.

The young mum-to-be’s body was found wrapped in plastic in a river eight days after she was reported missing. Fargo Police said she died as the result of homicidal violence.

“Savanna was a victim of a cruel and vicious act of depravity,” Fargo Police Chief David Todd said.

But they released no other details about what caused her death.

Savanna disappeared on August 19 after heading over to visit her next-door neighbour for a dress fitting.

When authorities discovered the newborn girl with Crews while executing a search warrant, she initially claimed Savanna came back two days later and gave her the baby.

However, her partner Hoehn told authorities that he returned home to find Crews cleaning up blood and claims she said: “This is our baby. This is our family.”

Crews eventually confessed to police to trying to get the newborn from Savanna.

“Crews admitted she had taken advantage of Savanna Greywind in an attempt to obtain her child and possibly keep the child as her own,” court documents said.
