Woman records highest ever BAC in NSW

You won't believe how much she was over the legal limit.

A 52-year-old woman who allegedly drunk drove two kilometres before crashing into a fence is believed to have blown the highest ever blood alcohol reading in NSW.

Mother-of-three Trudy Friend, from Coffs Harbour, is said to have recorded more than nine times over the legal limit. She left Toormina Gardens Shopping Centre, veered off the road and crashed her car at 2.45pm on January 13.

Friend passed out after the crash and was allegedly found with a blood alcohol reading of 0.486, clearly surpassing the legal limit of 0.05.

According to experts, a reading of .30 in a woman of average height would typically be comatose, and at .40, the same person would be rated close to clinically dead.

The woman has been charged and licence suspended. She will appear in court in May.
