South Australia, Victoria, NSW and Tasmania are expected to cop another deluge on top of the massive rainfall recorded earlier this month, while parts of Queensland will also be hit.

SA has been warned to prepare for one of the most extreme weather systems to hit the state in about 50 years bringing gale-force winds, 10-metre seas and at least 100mm of rain (that’s huge for the driest state in the driest continent). And it’s due to hit today, travelling then east across the content collection Victoria and Tasmania on its way.

Areas in central western NSW, already reeling from floods, are expected to get another drenching starting tomorrow, Thursday. Forbes and surrounds have been declared a natural disaster zone, with the damage bill already in the 10s of millions of dollars.

The BoM warns that flooding is expected to peak at Cottons Weir and downstream at Jemalong, before moving to Condobolin and Euabalong over the next two weeks, causing peaks of 7.2 metres in each town.

The BoM blames a low combined with a cold front with the crazy weather. It urges people in affected areas all around Australia to follow them on Twitter for updates.
