Daily Mail Australia selected 10 popular brand items and compared their on-shelf and online prices and found that seven of the products cost 10 per cent more online.

Some of their findings were:

  • Dolmio Australian Grown Tomato Bolognaise Pasta Sauce 500g cost $4.00 online but $3.69 in-store

  • Kellogg’s All Bran 350g cost $6.37 online but $5.70 in-store

  • Vegemite Spread 560g $8.79 online but $7.99 in-store

The only groceries whose price remained unchanged were milk and bread.

According to a Coles spokesperson, the extra premium paid for a handful of products was to cover the costs of the service.

They went on to say that more than 70 per cent of the supermarket’s products sold online had the same price as the ones in-store.
