Visa denied for third foreign bride

He's found love again at 65 - but can't get a visa for his new Juliet.

THE Federal government has denied a man’s request to bring a third foreign bride to Australia.

News Ltd reports that

Anthony McIlwraith, 65, wants to bring his Thai girlfriend live with him in Australia, but the Government denied her visa on the ground that he’s done this twice before.

Mr McIlwraith says he met Kunya Summard, 38, in a village in Thailand in 2010 and he began sending her money every week. He says they are now in love and he wants to marry her but he was rejected after the Department of Immigration discovered he had already sponsored two of his former wives.

Mr McIlwraith was married to Crescenia Villegas in 1994, but the pair split soon after she arrived in Australia.

He married a second wife in 1983. They split for a while, but didn’t divorce until 2012.

News Ltd says the Australian government limits the number of visa applications a person can sponsor to two people, a minimum of five years apart.
