It has been two years since the shocking kidnapping of hundreds of school girls by armed Boko Haram militants.
Two years since the girls were stolen from their families.
Two years of waiting.
Two years of heartbreak.
Two years of silence.
But, today CNN has released a chilling proof-of-life video, showing 15 of the girls wearing robes, lined up against a wall.
In the video, which is understood to have been shared between the Boko Haram militants and the government, the girls are asked their name and what school they are from.
One by one, each girl calmly states her name and explains that she was taken from Chibok Government Secondary School.
Towards the end of the video, one of the girls speaks directly to the camera. “I am speaking on 25 December 2015, on behalf of the all the Chibok girls and we are all well.”
CNN obtained the video and shared it with some of the girls’ mothers – who haven’t seen or heard from their daughters since the violent kidnapping.
In the video one mother, Rifkatu Ayuba catches sight of her long-lost daughter. “My Saratu!” she calls.
“I felt like removing her from the screen,” Ayuba told CNN.
Reporters Stephanie Busari, Nima Elbagir and Sebastiaan Knoops say the video brings hope the girls are still alive, however their whereabouts is still unknown.
Watch, the CNN team show mothers the video of their missing daughters.
