Another shooting in the US – this time at a College – has left at least 13 people dead and another 20 wounded, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
Just before lunch at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, a rural Oregon town, a gunman reportedly walked through classrooms in a science building and began shooting students.
Police received calls around 10:40am claiming there was a gunman on the grounds and soon arrived at the scene.
Officers exchanged gunfire with the gunman and Douglas Country Sheriff John Hanlin confirmed to reporters the gunman was killed at the scene.
The gunman has not been named yet, and those injured have been taken to Mercy Medical Centre in Roseburg. It is the only hospital in town and on it’s Facebook page asked people to “please continue to pray”.
The shooting has brought the United States gun control laws and treatment of mental health back into the national debate.
In August TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were shot dead during a live broadcast by a disgruntled former colleague.
Vester Lee Flanagan II filmed himself killing both Parker and Ward, and posted the footage to Facebook. He then shot himself.
