A hostage situation in a Martin Place is still continuing two and a half hours since it begun.
2GB’s Ray Hadley is reporting raids are being carried out in Lakemba by NSW and Australian Federal police but these are unconfirmed reports.
Sources say that 20 police are doing a pre-arranged tour of a Lakemba mosque as an part of a police induction day.
Earlier today the radio host said the hostage takers had divices planned all over the city and wanted to talk to PM Tony Abbott live on-air. Those comments have not yet been confirmed.
The NSW Police have urged media to be responsible in their reporting to prevent unnecessary alarm.
Some have been condemned for live-tweeting police positions and tactics.
New South Wales police have issued a statement saying they are trying to contact with the people inside the Lindt café in Martin Place.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott is due to address reporters in Canberra at 12.30pm.
