Meet the Oombrella, an umbrella that can predict rain and text you a warning 15 minutes before the first drop falls.
The device uses humidity, light and temperature sensors and data from social media to assess the chance of precipitation in its location at any given time.
If rain is imminent, it sends a text to its owner, warning them of the impending shower. It also contacts its master in the event that it is left behind at home, on public transport or in a restaurant, the fate of many a sad and lonely umbrella.
The first Oombrellas will be available on Kickstarter in March and it will be rolled out in store and online later this year.
It is expected to sell for around $80-$90.
