Twin toddlers drown in backyard pond

The boy’s parents thought they were both playing safely inside.

Two-year-old twin boys have drowned after falling into a fish pond in the garden of their new luxury family home.

Shaun and Rhys were found lifeless in a koi pond at the side of the home in Fife, Scotland, by their parents Sarah Aitken and Mervyn Scott.

They called an ambulance which rushed the boys to nearby Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, but they could not be saved, reports The Sun.

“The poor parents thought their two kids were safe in a bedroom,” a source told the newspaper. It’s an absolute nightmare. How anyone can cope with such a terrible loss is hard to comprehend.”

The family had only recently begun renting the property.
