Police have discovered a four-year-old girl sleeping at the scene of what they believe to be a murder-suicide in Sydney’s west.
The Daily Telegraph reports that the child was found just meters from the bodies of a man and a woman at the Smithfield address at about 12.35pm after a relative had visited the house and made the grim discovery.
Neighbours told the media that the couple had recently separated and they were “surprised” to see the woman’s car at the house since she and her daughter had been “gone for months”.
The little girl was unharmed and was taken to Fairfield police station last night as officers searched for appropriate care for her.
Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances of the deaths.
