An Ohio family was deeply relieved when their missing toddler was returned home safely after disappearing for two days.
When two-year-old Rainn Peterson went missing from her great-grandparents home dozens of volunteers gathered to help find the toddler.
The child and her two siblings were being babysat when it is thought that the toddler just wandered off.
Wearing only a long sleeve t-shirt, shoes and jeans Rainn was unable to be located overnight when the temperatures dipped to 5°C.
Determined volunteers searched tirelessly for the girl.
“I got here at 5 o’clock this morning,” said volunteer Lorie Tingler to WKYC, as she was trying to warm up with some hot chocolate after spending 13 hours volunteering.
“We were looking in holes, in a cornfield,” said Tingler. “We were looking in the woods. We were crawling under pine trees, through forest, we were wet.”
After a frantic 48 hour search a volunteer found the girl in a field less than one mile from where she disappeared.
He immediately called 911.
“I found baby Rainn and she’s alive!” he reportedly said.
The girl was taken to the local hospital where she is in a stable condition.
