There have been two separate pool accidents involving children in Sydney over the weekend.
An 18-month old girl has tragically died after she was found floating unconscious in a backyard pool in Raby yesterday afternoon.
Police and paramedics arrived at the house on Thunderbolt Drive to find an adult performing CPR on the child after she was pulled from the water around 4pm.
Paramedics worked on the little girl, who went into cardiac arrest, and took her to Campbelltown Hospital but she was pronounced dead a short while later.
There was a fence around the backyard pool and the circumstances of how she got into the pool are not yet clear. Police are investigating the incident.
On Saturday, a 22-month-old boy was taken to hospital in a critical condition after a near-drowning in Castle Hill.
Like the little girl, he was pulled from the water unconscious, but was revived and taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where his condition is understood to have improved.
