Three-month-old baby girl dies on first day at day care

"Our family is now broken. I'm not sure how we are supposed to go on.”

A baby girl has sadly died on her first day of day care.

Little McKenna Felmly stopped breathing while she was at Sharon’s Day Care in Treichlers, Pennsylvania, and a police investigation is currently underway to determine what happened, PEOPLE reports.

The day care centre has since been closed by authorities, citing the centre for “gross incompetence, negligence and misconduct.”

In a post on a GoFundMe page in her memory, McKenna’s father, Bryan Felmly claims his daughter seemed healthy the morning she was dropped off at the centre.

Her mother, Adrienne Kromer, called the day care centre three times during the day to check up on her baby girl and after hearing McKenna wouldn’t eat and had fallen asleep, Kromer went to pick up her daughter.

However, before she had arrived, little McKenna had stopped breathing and was already in an ambulance heading for the hospital.

She was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the emergency room.

“We have no words, no answers, no nothing,” her father wrote.

“Our family is now broken. I’m not sure how we are supposed to go on. There’s no reason why a three and a half month old healthy baby girl should have lost her life.”

A police spokesman has told PEOPLE that her death is not being handled as suspicious.
