The sinister reason no one’s lived in this mansion for 50 years

You won’t find us anywhere near it.

Looking for real estate in an up-and-coming LA neighbourhood that you can reno and turn into an incredible home?

Well, you can consider this one at 2475 Glendower Place in Los Feliz, which according to Curbed LA, is going for $3.6 million ($US2.75 million).

It’s a 1500square metre multi-level Spanish-style mansion with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a ballroom with a bar, library and five garages.

Sure, it looks shabby, but you can see the potential right?

Erm, maybe not.

The sinister truth behind this spooky mansion is that it’s the scene of a grizzly murder/suicide.

In 1959, the home owner at the time, Harold Perelson, murdered his wife in her sleep with a hammer to the head, and attempted to do the same with his daughter before she luckily escaped.

He then went to the bathroom and committed suicide with concoction of Nembutal and tranquilizers.

Since the 60s, the house has been vacant, and we’re not really surprised.

The murder house has garnered a lot of attention, and Jennifer Clay wanted to see for herself what all the fuss was about. Writing on her blog My LA Bucket List, she went into the closed-up house and took photos of still-wrapped Christmas gifts on the lounge, a SpaghettiOs carton in the kitchen and a creepy staircase leading to who-knows-where.

You see, the murder happened in the month of December and it obviously hadn’t been changed since.

“The place was pretty much a s—t show of paranormal proportions,” Clay told Medium. She talked of “two nasty mustard sitting chairs that crept me the eff out” and a smiling statue in a fountain.

In fact, there’s even a film in the works of the horror tale.

So if you don’t mind living in this creepy-as-hell house, you can check out the listing here. As the description says, it’s just “waiting for that special person.”
