A classic brainteaser created by National Geographic is still proving to be popular today.
Adults were shown a picture of a yellow bus and asked which direction it was travelling in. While many adults are left scratching thier heads, 80 percent of children got it right.
The bus is travelling to the left.
When asked why, the preschoolers all came up with the same answer: “Because you can’t see the door to get on the bus.”
Experts at the Independent think that children are better at answering the question because they have more recent experience with buses than adults do. This shows that former experience and cues are important factors when interpreting a situation.
Other experts think that a child’s holistic and creative way of thinking is beneficial when it comes to providing the solution.
