An Australian teenager faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment after pleading guilty to having sex with his younger foster sister.
In Queanbeyan Local Court, the 15-year-old, who was 14 at the time of the alleged incident, pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10.
The Canberra Times reports that the offence holds the potential penalty of life in prison.
The publication states that court documents allege the incident occurred in 2016 when the boy offered to read a story to his foster sister in his bed.
The court documents also noted that the victim was allegedly asked by the accused if she wanted to “play with each other’s privates” and “do the secret thing”.
The boy then reportedly had sexual intercourse with the girl before they were found by a foster parent under blankets wearing no pyjamas.
Once removed from the situation, the victim allegedly said “he touched my privates”.
She was interviewed by NSW authorities after police were notified, where she referred to further offenses of the same nature on prior occasions.
The case is now before the court for sentencing in June.
