The radio elite beat out 40 other radio announcers for the title, which the funny-man found a little hard to believe.

“Are you sure this isn’t a massive gee-up?” Jonesy said, as he was handed his trophy by Take 5 Editor-in-Chief, Paul Merrill,

Take 5 Editor-in-Chief, Paul Merrill, names Jonesy the winner.

Over 5000 voters confirmed that it wasn’t and messages of admiration started streaming in.

“He’s such a hottie,” said Deborah. “It’s his cute face, his height but most of all his sense of humour. Lucky Amanda getting to wake up to that face every morning!”

He wasn’t the only one that was surprised, with Kyle Sandilands storming the room to express his disgust at being beaten.

“Everyone knows I’m really the sexiest man on the radio,” Sandilands interjected. “Here’s me and Jonesy next to each other …”

To which Jonesy’s co-host Amanda Keller deemed them like Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger from Twins, with Kyle being the Arnold of the duo.

Jonesy currently works for WS-FM Sydney and the 48-year-old is certainly no stranger to the radio world. After working for Bankstown community radio for six-months, Brendan scored a job in WA back in 1990, and he hasn’t stopped since.

It’s safe to say the host won a lot of hearts after his brief stint on Dancing with the Stars in 2013, especially after Todd McKenney’s comments that, “I love you on the radio, but I hate you on the dance floor” had us jumping to his defense.

Ray Hadley of 2GB fame was runner-up and Silver Fox winner, with the 62-year-old attracting votes for his rugged good looks and generous nature.

Coming in third was Matty Johns of The Footy Show fame, whose smile appeared to get him across the line. “That smile of his makes my tummy flutter,” said Take 5 reader Rhonda.

In a final tally that’s normally reserved for Hollywood underdog movies, regional announcer Josh Buckle from K Rock Geelong beat shock jock Kyle Sandilands by a single vote.

Take 5 Editor-in-Chief, Paul Merrill, said the votes didn’t appear to only consider the radio host’s physical appearance.

“Radio jocks have been debating who deserves to be there and what really makes someone a hunk,” he said. “It seems that yes, it’s about looks, but Aussie women clearly value a good sense of humour and just being a good bloke.”
