An eight-year-old girl from Kingsford, East Sydney, was allegedly assaulted in her home in Barker street in the early hours of Monday morning by a man who climbed through her bedroom window.
Police reports indicate the indecent assault took place between 1.30am and 4.30am on the morning of Monday, 14 May.
The man is said to have climbed through her bedroom window and assaulted the young girl before leaving.
After the man made his escape, the girl told her mother what had happened, and she immediately called the police. Detectives from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command are now appealing for more information about the incident.
The man in question is said to be aged in his 50s, was wearing a dark hooded jumper and spoke with an Australian OR English accent.
