The Schapelle Corby saga took another turn this evening with a TV news report claiming she had attempted suicide.
Citing the testimony of parole officers who they said had visited Schapelle in Bali this afternoon, Network Ten reported that Schapelle took a knife upon sighting the parole officers and threatened to kill herself.
But the Daily Mail has reported the Corby clan has angrily denied the self-harm claims. Quoting a “source close to the family”, the publication said that when parole officers visited the house Schapelle expressed frustration at the media intrusion and said to them: “What, are they waiting for me to kill myself?”
The source then said at no stage did Schapelle threaten to take her own life.
The reports come following news that Balinese authorities have been unimpressed with the conduct of the Corby family since Schapelle’s release from Kerobokan prison. News reports today suggested parole officials believe the decision by Mercedes Corby to conduct an interview with Seven’s Sunday Night program could constitute a breach of Schapelle’s parole conditions and could result in her early release from prison being revoked.
