A farmer from NSW has captured a daddy long legs spider’s victory over a young brown snake.
Patrick Lees posted the video on his Aussie Farmer Facebook page.
He said that it was the first time he had known a spider to defeat a snake.
Lees found the snake on his property at Weethalle, near West Wyalong in central west New South Wales, on Saturday.
The brown snake was a juvenile about one metre long.
Lees has left the Brown snake in the web, where a group of spiders has begun spinning a web over its face and tail.
“I’m not going to deny them their victory,” he told the ABC.
“When I walked out to the shed … I saw this brown snake strung up by the daddy longlegs in its web,” he said.
“People have this idea that everything in the bush is trying to kill you but this took it to the next level. I just thought it was a classic Australia moment and had to share it”.
