Changing the game plan at the last minute may have undermined the ratings success of Schapelle, which aired last night instead of tonight as originally planned.
Nine decided on Friday to bring the broadcast forward to Sunday night and take advantage of intense public interest in Schapelle Corby’s imminent release from Bali’s Kerobakan Prison.
However, the ratings results were far below what the network might have hoped for, only managing 1.022 million viewers with a peak audience of 1.39 million.
Schapelle was up against the first of a two-part mini-series INXS – Never Tear Us Apart, the story of rock superstar Michael Hutchence and the band INXS and their rise to fame, which claimed 1.97 million viewers, a whopping 37.6 per cent share of the metropolitan audience.
