Rove and Sam‘s 7-8 pm show will air for the final time today (June 30) after it was announced it had been axed by the Hit Network.
The duo originally took over the breakfast slot in Sydney in 2015, but were bumped to the national evening show at the start of 2017 due to poor ratings.
“Rove’s remaining within the SCA [Southern Cross Austereo] family and working on a new project with another part of our business. Sam’s contract has now ended and we wish her well with her coming up TV work,” a Hit Network spokeswoman told news.com.au.
This was Sam’s first radio show, landing the gig after she rose to fame as a contestant on The Bachelor and later as The Bachelorette.
Rove, however, is a seasoned media veteran who has had various roles on TV and radio prior to his show with Sam. He’s currently on TV as the host of ABC’s Whovians – a weekly Doctor Who discussion panel.
No word yet on what Rove’s “new project” will be, but Sam is returning to her TV roots on Channel 7’s new reality show Hell’s Kitchen. The cooking show will see Sam – who dubs herself “legit the worst cook in the world!” – compete in cooking and food challenges which will be judged by renowned chef Marco Pierre White.
