Sally Pearson, one of Australia’s brightest hopes for gold in Rio, will not compete at the upcoming Olympic Games.
The defending champion of the 100m hurdles reportedly tore her hamstring during a training session on the Gold Coast at the weekend.
It’s a devastating blow for our golden girl, who only recently returned from a year-long sabbatical after breaking her wrist while competing in June 2015.
Sally returned to Australia earlier this month determined to improve her form in time for the Olympics after struggling during her recent comeback races in Europe.
Sally was due to be the Australia track and field team captain.
The Rio Games begin on August 5.
