PR Queen Roxy Jacenko is due to give an exclusive interview with 60 Minutes and in a preview which aired last night she slammed critics who questioned her motives for going public with her breast cancer diagnosis.
In the tell-all style interview, due next Sunday, the mother-of-two snapped at journalist Allison Langdon when pressed on the reason why she told the world about her cancer just weeks after her husband, Oliver Curtis was jailed.
“There’s a problem isn’t there, when you announce that you have breast cancer and people’s first reaction is cynicism,” Langdon asks, explaining that it’s “normal people” who have these concerns.
A fiery Jacenko snapped back at the reporter, “Well they’re not normal Allison. Change your friends.”
Roxy also said: “It is what it is. I am unfortunately the person who has got the cancer, my husband is in jail, and I’m now a single mother. I don’t really give a f–k what they think on my timing.”
“They can say that, the reality is, it’s not something that I ever thought I would face.”
The 36-year-old Sweaty Betty PR founder revealed that she had discovered a lump in her breast and underwent surgery shortly after.
In the 60 Minutes clip, Roxy was seen being wheeled on a hospital bed before telling the reporter: “I can’t believe I’m actually in this position.”
Roxy has been left a single mum to her kids Pixie, five, and Hunter, two after her husband was sentenced to two years in jail for insider trading. He is eligible for parole in June 2017.
Roxy has since confirmed that she will undergo radiation therapy.
According to reports Jacenko is not thought to have been paid for the story.
