Justice Nigel Sweeney told the jury at Southwark Crown Court inLondonthat defence lawyer Sonia Woodley QC was too sick to appear in court.
“Unhappily the position is she is unwell and not able to make her speech this afternoon,” Justice Sweeney said.
He sent the jurors home until Monday but added that he wasn’t sure she would be better by then.
The 84-year-old entertainer has pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of indecently assaulting four girls between 1968 and 1986.
