Consumers are outraged after popular chip brand, Pringles, appeared to be trying to subtly rip them off by shrinking tube slices on the sly.
Manufacturing for Australia and New Zealand has shifted from the USA to Malaysia recently. And fans of the cult snack have not taken the news lying down.
Many took to Twitter to complain about the decreased tube size but increased price per serving. Most were disappointed their hands no longer perfectly fit into the tube, when once that was Pringles appeal.
“Is this Pringles can getting smaller or my arm getting fatter?” one wrote on Twitter. “Pringles cans have gotten smaller, and the struggle larger,”wrote another.
Pringles issued a statement in response to the backlash.
“The equipment we use in Malaysia is a bit different to our sister factory in the US,” it said.
“You’ll notice that both the chip and the can are a little smaller to fit with the production facility.
“The cost of making them was going up and up unfortunately we needed to build in a small price increase with the new cans to help cover some of these costs.”
We’re just going to go ahead and say it: Not Good Enough.
