In an unsurprising turn of events…

Donald Trump has blamed former president Barack Obama and his “people” for orchestrating protests against him, and for a range of national security leaks.

During an interview, aired on Tuesday morning local time, President Donald Trump was asked whether he thought his predecessor could have been behind the wave of protests against the new administration, and a series of leaks from the White House to the press, including a call shared with Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull.

“You never know what is exactly happening behind the scenes,” Trump said while speaking to the Fox News morning show Fox & Friends.

“I think that President Obama is behind it, because his people are certainly behind it. And some of the leaks possibly come from that group, which are really serious because they are very bad in terms of national security.”

“But I also understand that is politics. In terms of him being behind things, that’s politics, and it will probably continue.”

Unsurprisingly, the 70-year-old President has failed to offer any evidence to backup his claims.

Trump made headlines earlier in the week as it was revealed he thought the epic Oscars snafu to be a result of Hollywood’s “obsession” with him.

In an interview with Breitbart Trump took a swipe at the moment which saw La La Land mistakenly announced as the winner of Best Picture.

“I think they were focused so hard on politics that they didn’t get the act together at the end,” Trump said.

“It was a little sad. It took away from the glamour of the Oscars. It didn’t feel like a very glamorous evening. I’ve been to the Oscars. There was something very special missing, and then to end that way was sad.”

During the ceremony, Trump and his politics came up a number of times. Jimmy Kimmel jokingly borrowed Trump’s line about “overrated” Meryl Streep, and TWO winners weren’t present because of Trump’s immigration ban.
